Not many people know a great deal about fishtail hair styles and the name probably doesn’t make it sound as good as it is. It’s a type of braid and it changes in thickness from the head to the shoulders, and really it only works well with long hair.

It must be said that fishtails do not suit every type of woman. They tend to look better on individuals who are used to having their hair tied back. We do not recommend having a fishtail if you have a fringe, partly because it takes some of the impact away from the fishtail and that’s not what this new trend is about.

Obviously this type of hair cut is not the easiest to braid, and if your skills are not up to scratch you may want to get a friend to help you out. Remember, however, practice makes perfect, so have a few goes before you call for backup.
